Thank you for giving Cabernet a try. It has been produced for the Kaleidoscope 1.5 (and later) control panel, created by Gregory D. Landweber and Frederick J. Bass. If you don't have Kaleidoscope, it can be downloaded from Greg's website at http://www.kaleidoscope.net. You can find almost every color scheme ever made, including all of mine, at The Kaleidoscope Scheme Archive (Eric Reid, Webmaster, http://www.kaleidoscope. net/schemes.
The Cabernet package includes the color scheme, a folder of desktop patterns and, unless you chose the l使er version, a complete set of custom icons. After installing Kaleidoscope in your Control Panels folder, simply dropCabernet in the Kaleidoscope Color Schemes folder in your Extensions folder. Then open the Kaleidoscope control panel and select Cabernet . To install the desktop patterns, open your Desktop Patterns control panel and drop the patterns on the open Desktop Patterns window and select the one you want. The new icons will magically appear when you restart your Mac.
Though it should be functional at all color depths, please note that Cabernet will look best on computers capable of 1000s of colors or more.
Cabernet is opinionware; if you have strong feelings about it, send them along via E-mail. As a dedicated Mac-type, I am committed to the pursuit of quality in all things, so let me know what you think -- I can't improve if I don't know what I'm doing wrong!
Too many words about aesthetics: [See my previous scheme Read Me docs for the boilerplate BS.]
Most of my color schemes were conceived as evocations of emotional states, usually triggered by memories of places I have been, certain times of day, climatic conditions, etc. As you know, Caber- net is wine, which, I think you will agree, evokes any number of emotional states, before and after consumption. A special note: you should avoid using Cabernet , and all purple schemes, after drinking the real thing. So give Cabernet a taste; if you like it, use it, enjoy it. If not, as always, you know where the Trash Can is.
